Where it holds the line

The rotary shaft seal is the most common oil seal in rotating machinery, quietly keeping lubricant in and contamination out at the shaft exit. A precision elastomer lip, energised by a stainless garter spring and carried in a rigid steel case, maintains constant radial contact as it wears — sealing the bearing chamber of gearboxes, motors, pumps and axles. Available with NBR or FKM lips to suit temperature and oil type, it is the dependable, economical default for shaft sealing.
