Where it holds the line

The step seal — or slipper seal — pairs a hard PTFE sealing element with an elastomer O-ring energiser to combine the best of both: the O-ring supplies constant radial load while the PTFE face does the sealing with almost no friction and zero stick-slip. The result is glass-smooth actuation, precise position control and immunity to the start-up judder that mars elastomer-only seals. With excellent chemical resistance and a wide temperature range, it is the premium choice for servo, test-rig and high-cycle hydraulic duty.
