Where it holds the line

Silicone O-rings cover a temperature span few elastomers can match — from deep cold to sustained dry heat — while staying physiologically inert, odourless and easy to colour for hygienic identification. That makes them the natural ring for food, beverage, medical and pharmaceutical equipment, as well as electrical and lighting enclosures exposed to heat. They are best kept to static service: silicone has modest mechanical strength and should be avoided in steam, dynamic and high-pressure grooves.
