Balanced Seals

High-pressure high-speed face seal

A pressure-balanced mechanical seal that reduces face load and heat generation for high-pressure, high-speed and volatile-liquid duty.

  • Reduced face load controls heat at high pressure
  • Handles high speeds and volatile light liquids
  • Resists film flashing and face distortion
  • Lower friction extends face life
  • Available as component or cartridge build
Temperature
-40°C to +260°C (elastomer) / +400°C (metal bellows)
Pressure
Up to 60 bar (balanced)
pH range
0 – 14

Where it holds the line

As seal-chamber pressure climbs, an unbalanced seal pushes its faces together harder than they can dissipate heat — and the film breaks down. The balanced seal solves this by stepping the sleeve so hydraulic pressure acts on a reduced face area, cutting closing force, friction and heat. That makes it the right choice for high-pressure boiler-feed, high-speed and light-hydrocarbon services where flashing and face distortion would destroy a standard seal, delivering stable performance with a long, predictable life.

Typical applications

  • 01High-pressure boiler-feed pumps
  • 02Light-hydrocarbon and LPG service
  • 03High-speed process pumps
  • 04Hot-oil and thermal-fluid pumps
  • 05Hydrocarbon pipeline pumps
